Testimonials

Positive

1) You allowed each of us time to fix our position or route before you intervened.
2) Your interventions were useful pointers rather than just pointing out the error then correcting it.
3) Both the locations were ideal for testing navigation skills with numerous paths and tracks coupled with some stunning views.
4) From my perspective the group size was fine. I would probably had more difficulty if the group had been large.
5) The pace of both days suited both the age and the experience of the delegates.
6) The 10:00 start time allowed me to get to the start without being caught in early morning traffic jams.

Paul - after an NNAS Bronze course

I really appreciated your great wealth of experience and knowledge of trekking and outdoors adventure education. I trusted you.

The team really appreciated your support and absolute faith in their physical ability.

It was good how unfazed you were regarding personal issues, e.g. toilet habits, feminine hygiene etc. The team appreciated your frank approach in this respect.

You made a real effort to get to know the team whilst at the same time allowing them space to hang out together.

You were interesting and always had something ‘educational’ or thought provoking to add to conversations.

You were approachable and able to gain the trust of the group.

Hannah - after a month long expedition

When I took the NNAS Bronze course I came into it as a complete novice. I think the last time I held a compass was in the fourth grade where I won it at a fair. In those two days on the course I learnt so many things, how to use a compass, how to read a map, what gear I needed and oddly enough what walking was all about. But best of all it inspired me to want to learn more and to carry on walking.
David is a very good leader and I found him to be extremely patient with me especially when he realised I didn't know anything. It must have been a very difficult balance to maintain having such a novice in his charge with other far more experienced walkers and keeping everyone happy, which I believed he managed beautifully. And I will be doing the Silver NNAS in the near future.

Danielle - after a Bronze NNAS course

What a fantastic two days out in the Surrey Hills with perfect weather conditions! The Bronze NNAS course was thoroughly enjoyable, and a must for all walkers whether they go on to leadership courses or not, it has boosted my confidence immensely. I would definitely recommend David as a MTL, trustworthy and great fun to walk with, very interesting and knowledgeable. At times giving us that little bit extra beyond the Bronze syllabus - which I thought was extremely encouraging. Also he is very patient and level headed, a must as a leader and I can only imagine a must when faced with difficult situations on the hills. He has also encouraged me to carry on and complete the Silver and gave me great advice as I'm looking to become a Mountain Leader myself in the future. Thank you David!

My first ever winter walking experience was under David's lead.  I had never used crampons or ice axes, but within minutes of David's tuition, I felt confident.  He also seems to be a walking encyclopaedia of interesting mountain information!

Ed - after a Winter skills week

"Thanks again for the course, I really enjoyed it and you were extremely patient during the 2 days. You provided all the equipment needed during the course and were well prepared during the activity.
Ruben - after a bespoke 1 star canoe & kayak course

"Having recently completed what may best be described as a crash-course in the British Canoe Union (BCU) 1- and 2-star awards, I find myself completely justified in writing a recommendation for David Adamson as my instructor.  David is a consummate professional; his expertise lies beyond the skills he is imparting, and his experience on water, and as an instructor shines through.  David has the rare ability to discern what is best taught, and what is best left for the individual to discover themselves. David is polite and at all times I found his instruction is clear, forthright and tactful.  David was flexible enough to tailor instruction to my long-term goals, whilst simultaneously ensuring that the syllabus requirements where completed wholly and on time.  I recommend that anyone considering obtaining canoe and kayak skills do so by ‘going in at the deep-end’ under David’s watchful eye.”

"we thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Wales. We had a great time. We were both out of shape prior to the trip and the walks were therefore great to get back into the fitness program without the need to push ourselves by over exertion, so well done the choice of the walks done."

Pravin - after a tailor-made 5 day holiday in Wales

"I thought the trip was a very good way for me to put into practice my orienteering skills. I also enjoyed the challenging aspect of the expedition. I appreciate the tips and information about the flora and fauna that you gave us throughout the trip.
I was very happy with everything you organised - the food, the hostel, the route that we took and the camp site.
We had a wonderful time and we would like to thank you!"

Ruben - after a 2 day expedition in Wales

"it gave me a great sense of achievement. I would really like to do it again after I get more practice and more exercise.
Everything was well planned and I appreciated the fact that you adapted the second day walk to the fact that we were in a bit of a hurry.
I want to thank you for a great adventure!"

"You demonstrated a high level of expertise and experience which supported the delivery of the ML Training.  Your approach in training me over the weekend was very relaxed, professional and you made it a learning experience"

Brett - after an ML training course

"This weekend I have been out and about in my local countryside practicing the skills you showed me. It has been really enjoyable, as was the course you ran last week."  "The course was very enjoyable and I would recommend you to my colleagues. As you know I will probably go for the silver at some stage in the future and would definitely book with you again. However, for the moment  I'm going to practice, practice, practice."

John - after a Bronze NNAS course

"I would like to thank you all for the weekend, I have learnt shed loads.
Not least, what way I need to look to see which way rivers are coming from when pacing distances!!!
And more seriously - I need to get some GOOD equipment!"

Martin - after a WGL course

"Firstly I would like to thank you and the Hampshire guys for a very good weekend. It was exactly what I was after, in terms confirming my current ability level and identifying areas that I need to improve."
